Hertha Berlin midfielder Arne Maier believes Liverpool loanee Marko Grujic's physicality is a clear indication that he had his grounding in English football.

The 22-year-old joined Hertha Berlin from Liverpool on a season-long loan deal in the summer, and following recovering from an ankle injury, Grujic has started to make his mark in Germany.

The Serbian has formed a formidable midfield partnership with Germany Under-21 star Maier and the duo have earned the plaudits for their performances in recent weeks.

Maier is enjoying playing alongside the Liverpool loanee and believes they both are enhancing each other’s game with their individual ability and qualities.

The midfielder told German daily Bild when asked about his partnership with Grujic: “He makes me better and me him, perhaps through our interaction.

“We complement each other well.”

Maier feels Grujic’s physicality is a huge part of his game and believes it has got to do a lot with his grounding in English football.

“The way he wins duels with his physical robustness, you can tell he’s from England.”

Grujic will hope to make further positive impressions in Germany with Hertha Berlin before returning to Liverpool next summer.

The Reds are well-stocked in midfield and the Serbian could face a tough task to break into Jurgen Klopp’s plans for next season.
