Kris Boyd feels that Rangers boss Steven Gerrard does not know his best side due to the inconsistent performances his charges are putting in.

Rangers had to make do with a 1-1 draw at Dens Park against Dundee on Sunday afternoon, despite playing against ten men for 70 minutes of the Scottish Premiership clash.

Gerrard made changes to his team as he looked for a winning formula and also kept an eye firmly on Thursday night's Europa League meeting with Rapid Vienna, a game which will decide if the Gers reach the last 32.

For former Rangers hitman Boyd, Gerrard has a situation where inconsistency means he cannot name his best eleven.

"For me, if you had to go and ask Steven Gerrard to pick his best eleven right now, I don't think he knows it", Boyd said on Sky Sports following the draw.

"You get a performance out of some players for one or two games, then they disappoint for one or two, then they pick back up.

"So he is always chopping and changing the team.

"That is not his fault.

"It is the inconsistency of the players."

Gerrard has also not been helped by the poor disciplinary record of his players, with suspensions often robbing him of key options.

Rangers were missing both Alfredo Morelos and Scott Arfield to suspension against Dundee.
