Rangers defender Connor Goldson has admitted that he is lucky to not be a victim of the rotation policy at Ibrox very often, especially considering his desire to play football every week led him to leave Brighton & Hove Albion.

Goldson, who joined the Gers from Brighton in the summer, has played a part in all but one Scottish Premiership game under Steven Gerrard so far this term.

The Englishman has been a central figure at the heart of Rangers’ defence since his arrival and has already notched up 30 appearances across all competitions for the Light Blues.

Despite Rangers being spoilt for choice in his natural position, Goldson has been able to survive the rotation policy more often than not, even when the fixtures have come thick and fast.

The 25-year-old admitted that he is lucky to be playing football every week at the moment, especially considering the fact that it is the reason why he decided to leave Brighton in the summer.

Goldson also added that the rotation policy is imperative when the team have so many games to play during the season and conceded that he has never been involved in so many games.

“It [the rotation among the centre-backs] has been fine”, Goldson said on Rangers TV.

“There’s so many games, I think you have to rotate and I don’t think just one partnership of two players can play in 60 games in a season.

“Personally, I have never been in a situation before where there has been so many games of football and I’m just happy that at the moment I’m the one playing every week.

“As I have said before, that is the reason why I left Brighton.

"I wanted a new challenge because I wanted to play football every week and at the moment, I’m lucky enough to be in that position.”

Goldson, who was one of 15 new signings that joined Rangers in the summer, has quickly established himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet under Gerrard this term.
