Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that the performances from Spurs have been fantastic, but feels his side are not getting enough credit due to the general perception surrounding them.

Spurs return to action in the Premier League on Saturday when they host strugglers Burnley at Wembley after securing their safe passage into the knockout stages of the Champions League during midweek action.

Pochettino’s men are currently third in the league table and just six points adrift of leaders Liverpool after registering successive wins following their forgetful north London derby affair earlier this month.

Despite the fact that Tottenham are the closest to the two frontrunners for the title in the form of Liverpool and Manchester City, Pochettino feels that his team are not getting enough credit for their “fantastic” performances.

The Argentine thinks that it is due to the general perception towards his side from the media, but stressed that Tottenham’s lofty position in the table is commendable, especially considering the fact that the other competitors have invested more than them.

“We are there, we are in a good position of course. It is normal that the perception is different”, Pochettino said in a press conference.

“I am happy with the perception today when you talk about only the perception from the media is Manchester City and Liverpool and not us.

“I am not happy with the perception when they are not assessing us in the right way.

“After investment and many things when you are assess the different club, normally it is Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, United, Arsenal will be involved in the race for the title.

"But not Tottenham.

“But we are there because we compete in a very good way, our performances are fantastic, but the perception is different.”

Tottenham were the only side in the Premier League to not strengthen their squad with new signings during the transfer window in the summer.
