Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has confirmed the Gers are speaking with Liverpool about the situation of midfielder Ovie Ejaria.

The youngster did not travel with Rangers for their Europa League defeat against Rapid Vienna on Thursday evening and it has been reported he opted to return to Liverpool.

Ejaria is suggested to have become disillusioned with Scottish football, which he feels is too physical.

Gerrard is expecting Ejaria to be back at Rangers on Friday and confirmed he will speak with the unsettled midfielder.

And the Rangers boss insists that Liverpool are well aware of what is happening with Ejaria and the Gers have been in touch with the Merseyside giants over his situation.

"I think it's something I need to discuss with Ovie in the coming days", Gerrard said at a press conference in Austria, when asked about whether Ejaria has a future at Rangers.

"I had a chat with him a few days ago and he's slightly unsettled.

"Liverpool are aware of the situation.

"We are in dialogue with Liverpool.

"But the next time I see Ovie will be Friday and we'll have a conversation then and see where we go from there", he added.

Gerrard has handed Ejaria regular playing time during his Rangers stint so far and should he return to Liverpool, the Gers boss may feel the need to dip into the January transfer window for a replacement.
