Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa says he cannot weigh in on the reason behind Samu Saiz's impending departure from the club as it is not related to football.

Saiz is expected to join Spanish La Liga side Getafe on a six-month loan with a view to a permanent move, with the midfielder desperate to return to his homeland.

He was not involved in the squad for Leeds' 1-0 win away at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon and Bielsa was asked about his situation after the match.

Bielsa admits that Saiz has permission to talk with Getafe, but is not able to shed light on exactly why he wants to quit Elland Road.

"He has a personal situation to solve and the club allowed him to talk [to Getafe]", Bielsa told his post match press conference.

"I can't tell you what will happen. I can tell you that he has the permission of the club to be absent", he added.

"This is a decision between the club and Samuel Saiz. I don't know the facts."

The Leeds boss confirmed that Saiz's issue at the club is not related to football and as such, he cannot weigh in on it.

"It's not a football problem and my job is football. He's an important player. I have to explain things when they're linked to my zone of work, when it's my decision.

"This situation has to be explained by the club and Saiz, not me – not because it's a problem", he added.

Saiz's wife is currently pregnant and a return to Getafe would also allow him to head back to his hometown of Madrid.
