Former Manchester United midfielder Robbie Savage says that everything the Red Devils once were, now Liverpool are, after Jurgen Klopp's men eased to a 3-1 win over Jose Mourinho's side at Anfield.

Liverpool were tipped to beat Manchester United in the clash between the two fierce rivals, but Mourinho was hoping to spring a surprise.

The Reds were rampant at Anfield and took the lead in the 24th minute through Sadio Mane.

Though Manchester United levelled nine minutes later when Jesse Lingard struck, Liverpool's utter dominance saw substitute Xherdan Shaqiri score twice in the second half to secure all three points for the hosts.

Liverpool had 64 per cent possession and 36 attempts at goal compared to Manchester United's six. And Savage offered a bleak assessment of where the Red Devils are compared to their rivals.

He said on BBC Radio 5 live: "It's well deserved. It could be more. It should be more.

"Each and every one of these United players should have a good, hard look at themselves when they get off the pitch.

"Have you done enough today? Have you done enough all season?

"It's absolutely embarrassing. Let's get it right.

"You've got the Manchester United shirt on and you're giving the ball away, not blocking shots.

"Liverpool are brilliant and dynamic. Everything that United used to be, Liverpool are now."

Liverpool are now back on top of the Premier League table and 19 points ahead of Manchester United after 17 games.
