Celtic winger James Forrest insists that the Bhoys are confident in the ability within their squad to tackle the busy schedule ahead of the winter break in the Scottish Premiership.

The Hoops slipped to third in the league table following their 2-0 defeat to Hibernian at Easter Road on Sunday in the Premiership, but still have a game in hand over leaders Rangers.

However, Brendan Rodgers’ men are set to play four games within the space of the next 11 days before the Premiership pauses for the winter break ahead of the new year.

Despite the fixtures coming thick and fast from now until the Glasgow derby against Rangers before the break, Forrest says that Celtic are confident they can tackle the busy schedule without too much hassle.

The 27-year-old also insisted that the key for Celtic will be to tackle the schedule game-by-game and added that every game will be a tough prospect, starting with the one against Motherwell on Wednesday.

“It’s about taking it game by game”, Forrest said in a press conference.

“We have four games before the winter break.

"Every game is going to be difficult, so we need to start with tomorrow, get three points and move on from there.

“We’ve had a successful run in this period before. We have a strong squad and players pushing for places.

“We have four games and they’re all big games.

"We need to make sure we turn up, give everything and then hopefully the performances get us results.

“We focus on ourselves. We go into every game confident in ourselves. We know the ability we have in the squad so we need to keep to showing that.

“If you’re a few points behind, you can get back. We showed a lot of character before and we’re definitely going to need to show that again.”

Celtic were drawn against Valencia for a Europa League Round of 32 clash in February after they finished behind Red Bull Salzburg in Group B.
