Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp feels midfielder Naby Keita did well in the Reds’ 3-1 win against Manchester United on Sunday, but needs time to improve further.

The Merseyside outfit returned to the top of the Premier League table after beating Manchester United at home and made it seven successive wins in the league.

Keita, who has had a stop-start season after joining the Reds in the summer due to injuries, featured on the left side of the midfield against Manchester United, but was replaced by Xherdan Shaqiri in the second half.

Shaqiri went on to score twice in the final 20 minutes and made the difference for Liverpool off the bench.

Klopp insists that Keita did what he was asked to do on the pitch, but needs more time to get to his best.

“What he did on Sunday was just exceptional”, Klopp told a press conference, via LFC TV.

“What we wanted from him and what he did, that was unbelievable.

“It was really, really good.

“But even he still needs time.”

Liverpool have a Friday night game against Wolves coming up next in the Premier League and will hope to open up a four-point gap over Manchester City.
