Leicester City manager Claude Puel has admitted the Foxes' recent meeting with Manchester City in the EFL Cup is giving him encouragement ahead of today's clash with the Citizens.

The Foxes will be aiming to build on their win against Chelsea by causing yet another major upset against defending champions Manchester City at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester were narrowly beaten during the EFL Cup quarter-final clash with Manchester City earlier this month and will be aiming to get one back on their opponents.

Despite failing to overcome Manchester City during the cup tie, Leicester showed plenty of character to come from a goal behind and force the game into penalties, before eventually crashing out.

However, Puel admitted the recent meeting with Manchester City has given him encouraging signs ahead of the meeting this afternoon.

The Leicester boss conceded that it will be a fantastic challenge for his side, but insisted they must try and cause another major upset.

“Our last game against Man City was encouraging”, Puel told the club’s official website.

“We lost with the lottery of the penalties. We didn’t manage the penalties, I realise, but on the pitch it was very interesting.

“Three days after another game against a tough team, we will see, but it will be another fantastic challenge and we need to create another upset.”

Leicester are currently ninth in the Premier League after notching up 25 points from their 18 league games so far this season.
