Former Chelsea defender Frank Sinclair has called for the Blues to recall Tammy Abraham from his loan at Championship side Aston Villa as Maurizio Sarri needs more depth in his squad.

Chelsea started the season well but have not been able to keep up with Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

Sarri has appeared to lack trust in strikers Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata, and in recent weeks played Eden Hazard as a false number 9.

Abraham has been in scintillating form for Championship side Aston Villa this season, having scored 14 goals in 19 games for the club.

Sinclair thinks that Chelsea need to call Abraham back to Stamford Bridge, with the striker fit and ready to go; and he feels the recall order should go in even if Abraham only played in the FA Cup.

“I don't see why not. Bring him back”, Sinclair said on Chelsea TV after the win at Crystal Palace.

“He's played a lot of football, so he's match fit and ready to go, and even if you bring Tammy back to be a part of the FA Cup campaign, it's an extra body that helps us out.

“Good luck to Aston Villa, but you've got to think about yourself."

Morata and Giroud have scored a combined six goals in the Premier League so far this season, while Giroud picked up an injury at Selhurst Park.
