Borussia Monchengladbach coach Dieter Hecking has struck a realistic note on potentially losing Liverpool linked star Thorgan Hazard in the future.

Liverpool have been credited with a keen interest in Hazard, who is shining under Hecking at Borussia-Park.

Gladbach have insisted that they do not expect much business to be done in the current transfer window, but Hecking is not prepared to say Hazard is unsellable and admits the club are always likely to lose top stars.

The Gladbach coach has indicated that despite the attacking midfielder knowing how highly the club value him, there may be offers which arrive which make all involved think twice.

Asked if there are any players, such as Hazard, who he would declare unsellable, Hecking told German daily the Rheinische Post: "I have to be realistic too.

"Borussia Monchengladbach will always be in the situation of having to let players go.

"This can happen in the summer, even if we qualify for Europe.

"Of course a player like Thorgan knows my appreciation for him, but that does not mean that there are not offers which may not be interesting for him."

Hazard has not missed a game in the Bundesliga for Gladbach this season, contributing nine goals and six assists.

Hecking has Gladbach sitting third in the Bundesliga, just two points off second placed Bayern Munich.
