Sampdoria technical coach Angelo Palombo has seen enough of former Leeds United midfielder Ronaldo Vieira to believe he is set for big things.

Leeds sold Vieira to Sampdoria in the summer to balance the books, a move which raised eyebrows amongst some Whites fans due to him being regarded as a bright prospect.

Vieira has had a slow start to life in Serie A and has made just four appearances in the Italian top flight so far, clocking 178 minutes of football.

But, under contract until 2023, Vieira is viewed as a long-term bet by Sampdoria and Palombo is conifdent about the former Leeds man's potential.

"Vieira can develop very well", Palombo told Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

"He is still young, but in my opinion, he has a great future ahead of him."

While Vieira has struggled for playing time at Sampdoria, he has been a regular fixture on the bench.

The midfielder's only 90 minute outing for Sampdoria in Serie A this season came in his side's 4-1 loss at Roma.

Vieira made 71 appearances for Leeds during his spell at Elland Road.
