Former Premier League midfielder Jermaine Jenas feels that Eden Hazard has outgrown Chelsea after he watched the Belgian in action in the EFL Cup at Wembley.

Maurizio Sarri’s men succumbed to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Wembley on Tuesday during the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final against Tottenham.

The visitors failed to make the best use of their chances as Harry Kane’s first half strike proved to be the difference between the sides at the end of proceedings.

Despite the result not working out in their favour, Chelsea will be aiming to take inspiration from the performance of Hazard, who was their best player on the night.

However, Jenas feels that Hazard has now completely outgrown the Chelsea team and admitted the Belgian was unplayable on the night.

Jenas also insisted that Chelsea were the better side on the night and reiterated that Hazard is clearly a level above everybody around him at Chelsea.

“Chelsea were the better side but they didn't really create any chances”, Jenas said on BBC Radio 5 live following the game.

“They were better on the ball and they flooded the ball but they didn't have a clinical edge.

“I thought Eden Hazard was unplayable.

“Chelsea are a top side but I think he has outgrown them and he is above a level of everybody around him.”

Hazard, who has been directly involved in 21 goals across all competitions this season, has yet to sign an extension to his current contract that runs until 2020.
