Celtic shot-stopper Craig Gordon has claimed the Bhoys have achieved what they wanted to so far this season, but insists they want to continue to improve after the winter break.

Brendan Rodgers’ men have endured a slow start by their own standards this term and are currently level on points with rivals Rangers at the summit of the Scottish Premiership table.

However, the Hoops have a game in hand over their rivals and could establish a three-point lead at the top, if they manage to win their extra game.

Despite coming in for criticism for a number of lacklustre performances so far this season, the Bhoys have retained the Scottish League Cup, while also remaining in Europe and leading the race for the title.

And Gordon claimed that Celtic have already achieved what they wanted so far, but insisted they are aiming to continue to improve after the winter break.

"You can look at that [the tight title picture] two ways”, Gordon was quoted as saying by STV.

"We have still achieved what we wanted to achieve when we set out at the start.

"To get to this point top of the league, still in Europe and having won the League Cup, on paper we couldn't have done any more than that really.

"We are happy with that but want to continue to improve and put in a good showing during the second half of the season.”

Gordon has amassed 15 clean sheets for Celtic from 32 appearances across all competitions so far this season.
