Red Bull Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund has insisted the club do not want to sell Liverpool linked striker Munas Dabbur, who he views as key for Die Roten Bullen.

The Israel international has been in impressive form for the Austrian giants this season and his exploits have seen several clubs mooted as holding an interest in securing his services.

Liverpool and Valencia are two linked with an interest, but Freund insists that Red Bull Salzburg value Dabbur highly and as such do not want to lose him.

"We need him, because he is enormously valuable to the team", Freund told Austrian daily the Salzburger Nachrichten.

The sporting director admits he is planning to speak to Dabbur after quotes attributed to the striker claimed he had said that an exit from Red Bull Salzburg is imminent.

"We'll have to clarify if Munas said it, so sure, we'll have to talk to him to sort it out. We'll listen to his version."

However, Freud accepts that in football anything can happen and added: "Basically, we do not want to let any players go in this transfer period, but you cannot rule anything out in football anyway."

Red Bull Salzburg have Dabbur under contract at the club until the summer of 2021.

They lead the Austrian league, boasting an eight-point advantage over second placed LASK Linz.
