Celtic legend John Hartson believes that the Hoops have made good additions to the squad so far in the January transfer window, but still need to sign a centre-half and a right-back.

The Hoops had an inconsistent first half of the season and are ahead of Rangers in the Scottish Premiership table by only goal difference.

With Kilmarnock breathing down their neck as well, Brendan Rodgers' side have added more firepower in Timothy Weah and Oliver Burke, while Vakoun Issouf Bayo will add more depth to the midfield.

The Hoops are still in the Europa League and will start their campaign in the Scottish Cup come the weekend, so they will be active in three competitions soon.

Hartson believes that with more than a couple of weeks still remaining before the transfer window closes, Celtic should now focus on adding more resources at the back.

“With still more than a fortnight left to go then I fully suspect that Celtic will still add to the guys that they have brought in”, Hartson wrote in his column for the Evening Times.

“I think the signings so far are decent.

"I like the look of Timothy Weah and he obviously comes from real pedigree while Oliver Burke just a few years ago was being held up as the great saviour for Scotland.

“You don’t lose that talent.

“But I still think there is time to get in another centre-half and a right-back.”

Celtic are in action this Saturday when they square off against Airdrieonians in the Scottish Cup.
