Davide Zappacosta’s representatives will meet the Chelsea hierarchy this week to discuss the defender’s future amidst interest from Lazio.

The Italian defender wants to leave the club this month after struggling to break into the Chelsea starting eleven this season under Maurizio Sarri.

The Chelsea boss’ stubborn attitude towards playing the same back four every week in the league means Zappacosta has only played in cup competitions and has been starved of minutes.

Lazio are interested in taking the former Torino man back to Italy, but they only want to reserve an option to sign him following a loan stint, whereas Chelsea want an obligatory purchase option.

Zappacosta wants to find a solution first and according to Italian radio station Radiosei, his agents have scheduled a meeting with the Chelsea hierarchy to untie the knot over his future.

It has been claimed his representatives will meet Chelsea in the next 48 to 72 hours and reiterate the defender’s desire to leave.

Lazio already have an agreement in place with the player over a contract and are now waiting for Chelsea to agree on their terms of negotiations.

Sarri might not want to lose the Italian as he is one of the few options he has as a replacement for Cesar Azpilicueta in his Chelsea squad.
