Former Hibernian forward Tam McManus believes that it would signify a great business for Celtic if they manage to get Scott McKenna for a fee in the region of £5m.

The young defender has attracted the interest of a number of clubs, including several south of the border, due to his superb performances for Aberdeen.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has admitted it could be tough to keep McKenna and the Dons could field offers this month.

Celtic could be a potential destination, with the Bhoys linked with McKenna and in need of another centre-back.

McManus though believes that if Aberdeen can keep hold of McKenna until the end of the season, a team from England might come up with a higher fee.

"£5m for Scott McKenna would be a steal and a great bit of business for Celtic", McManus wrote on Twitter.

"They have been crying out for that type of centre-half for a while.

"I do think though if Aberdeen hold out until the summer someone in England would definitely pay more for him he’s perfectly suited to the English game."

Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata has an uncertain future as he is out of contract at the end of the season.
