Liverpool forward Taiwo Awoniyi has revealed that he feels part of the family at Mouscron after moving to the Belgian side on loan until the rest of the season.

Awoniyi’s loan spell with Gent was ended early as he managed just five starts and 11 substitute appearances with the side, and failed to find the back of the net in the league.

The 21-year old spent a year on loan at Mouscron before moving to Gent on loan in the summer of 2018.

Awoniyi had a good spell at Mouscron as he made 27 appearances and scored seven times in the process.

The Nigerian is glad to return to the club and has admitted that he feels part of the family at Mouscron, something he didn’t feel during his spell at Gent.

"It is good to be back in Mouscron", Awoniyi told Belgian daily La Derniere Heure.

"At least I am not a number here, but part of a family.

"Gent is a nice club with top people, but I did not feel like a real player.

"I still have a hard time understanding why I was not allowed to play so much.

"I trained well, always gave my all, but every week I was surprised that I was not back on the pitch."

The move is Awoniyi’s fifth loan spell away from Liverpool since he joined the Merseyside outfit in the summer of 2015.

Awoniyi is yet to make his first team debut for the Reds and will hope for a strong loan spell in the coming months.
