Marcelo Bielsa insists that Leeds United could have beaten Stoke City if their play in the final third had been better.

Leeds suffered their fourth defeat in five games in all competitions when Stoke scored a 2-1 win over the Whites at the bet365 Stadium in a Championship clash.

The Whites continue to be at the top of the league table but their lead at the summit has been reduced to just one point with Norwich City snapping at their heels.

Leeds struggled to create chances against a compact Stoke team until towards the end of the game, but Bielsa believes there was enough in his team to win the three points.

The Argentine thinks there is no reason Leeds could not have beaten the Potters, if they had found the solutions needed to open Stoke up in the final third.

Bielsa said in a press conference following the defeat: It was a game that we could have won.

We had the ball. We could arrive easily to the last part of the pitch.

When the ball was on the sides it was easy to use the association play.

This was regarding the offensive play. And in spite of having this, we couldn’t arrive in the box enough.

"And if you have the ball and if you can’t arrive at the end of the pitch, you can’t have chances to score.

"We didn’t miss any chances and we were calm, we were not afraid of the offensive aspect of the opponent and it was a game that we had the capacity to win but didn’t have the solution", Bielsa added.
