Manchester United have reached an agreement in principle to sell Marouane Fellaini to Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng, according to the BBC, and the Belgian is now set to fly to China.

Fellaini has become a peripheral figure at Manchester United since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival last month and has only played 31 minutes of football under the Norwegian.

The Belgian has been out injured for a few weeks and is now set to depart the club and complete a move to China with Chinese Super League outfit Shandong Luneng.

Negotiations between the two clubs started a few days ago an agreement is in place for Fellaini to join the Chinese side in the coming days.

Manchester United are set to receive a fee of around £10m and the Belgian has also agreed on a lucrative contract with Shandong Luneng for the move.

Fellaini was spotted in Brussels airport earlier today and he is taking a flight to China to complete the transfer. He has already undergone a medical and just needs the paperwork to go through to officially join Shandong Luneng.

The 31-year-old joined Manchester United in 2013 and despite being a divisive figure amongst the fans, he netted some big goals including in semi-finals of cup competitions.

He signed a new three-year deal with the club last summer when it seems certain that he would leave on a free transfer.
