Mauricio Pochettino believes being in the last 16 of the Champions League is a bonus for Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham fought their way out of a precarious position to reach the next round of the Champions League and will host Borussia Dortmund at Wembley in the first leg on Wednesday night.




Spurs did not sign any players in the summer or in the January window, and have suffered injuries to key players over the last few weeks, but Pochettino feels happy with the way his team have been playing despite the problems.

He admits that reaching the last 16 of the Champions League is a bonus for the club at this stage of their development.
 


The Tottenham boss said in a press conference: “Champions League for the third year in a row is a bonus.

"How we are competing in the Premier League and Champions League.

“To be in the last 16 is a bonus.”

Dortmund have been one of the most exciting teams in Europe this term and are sitting at the summit of the German top flight.

But the Tottenham boss insists that despite the difficulty of the competition and the quality of Dortmund, he believes his team can beat anyone.

“I really believe we can win every game we play but we know this competition is so tough.

“We are facing a team on the top of the German table.

"With all respect to the team, we’re playing we always believe we can beat anyone.”
