Former Liverpool star Dominic Matteo believes that Jurgen Klopp would be happy to walk away with a point against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Reds shift their focus back to the Premier League title race on Sunday when they travel to Old Trafford for a crunch game against rivals Manchester United.

Despite suffering a 3-1 defeat against Liverpool in what worked out to be Jose Mourinho’s final game in charge in December, the Red Devils have recovered remarkably under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United have yet to taste defeat in domestic competitions under the guidance of Solskjaer and are enjoying the high of an impressive win at Chelsea in the FA Cup on Monday.

And ahead of Liverpool’s crucial meeting with their rivals, Matteo feels that Klopp would be happy to walk away with just a single point at Old Trafford on Sunday in the Premier League.

The former Liverpool academy graduate also admitted that Klopp making efforts to walk away with a point could stem from the fact that Manchester United have been in stellar form, and stressed the importance of starting well.

“I think probably [Klopp] would take a point now”, Matteo said on LFC TV, following Liverpool's draw with Bayern Munich.

“It's just the form Man United are in at the moment.

“So if it is tight after 60,70 minutes he might make some changes to keep it tight [and get the point].

“I've said about starting well and we need to start well on Sunday.”

Liverpool will be boosted by the return of Virgil van Dijk, who sat out against Bayern Munich on Tuesday to serve a suspension, while Manchester United will be without both Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard on Sunday.
