Celtic loanee Lewis Morgan has admitted he is hoping the Sunderland fans were excited by his performance against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

Morgan, who joined the Black Cats on a loan deal in January, was handed his first start since early February during the win over Derek Adams’ men on Saturday at the Stadium of Light.

The 22-year-old provided the assist for Lee Cattermole’s opening goal, before George Honeyman completed the victory in the 87th minute to seal maximum points for the hosts.

And after his impressive display against the Pilgrims on Saturday, Morgan has admitted he is hoping the Sunderland fans were excited with his performance.

The Celtic loanee also claimed he felt he did well during the match and insisted he must keep pressing and looking to catch the eye of manager Jack Ross.

“Yes [it was the ideal opportunity for me to impress the manager], obviously”, Morgan told the club’s official website.

“I came in, started a couple of games and was out of the team for a wee bit.

"But as I said, I've just got to keep pressing and force the manager to play me and keep knocking on that door.

“I think today I did well and hopefully excited the fans.”

Morgan, who has a contract at Parkhead that runs until 2022, has earned two caps for Scotland at senior level.
