The father of Arsenal and Manchester City target Nicolo Zaniolo believes the speculation surrounding his son’s future is par for the course ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old playmaker caused Roma fans to worry when he refused to confirm whether he would put pen to paper to a new contract.

He later clarified his comments this week and his father, Igor Zaniolo, also insisted that Nicolo will sign a new contract and continue at the Stadio Olimpico.

But Roma are worried about Juventus’ interest and there are suggestions their sporting director Fabio Paratici has already been in touch with the player’s entourage.

Igor confirmed that there has been no contact with Paratici, but admits that there have been agents making moves.

But he feels even after Nicolo, who also continues to be linked with Arsenal and Manchester City, signs a new contract with Roma, the speculation will not go away as it is par for the course in modern football.

The Roma star's father told Italian daily Tuttosport when asked if Paratici has been in touch: “He has not, but there is the constant coming and going of agents.

“It is part of the game and it is normal in the summer.

“Despite a renewal with Roma, my son will be admired by many teams.”

Igor wants Nicolo to play with the top players in the world and win trophies in the future.

“I’d like him to become a champion.

“I wouldn’t mind seeing him play with the best like [Lionel] Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and [Kylian] Mbappe.”

It remains to be seen if Roma could resist a big offer for the talent in the summer.
