Arsenal Under-23s coach Freddie Ljungberg has admitted he is delighted with the progress made by Gunners talent Tyreece John-Jules in recent weeks.

John-Jules, who came up through the ranks at Arsenal, grabbed the limelight during the Gunners’ trip to Dubai after scoring against Al Nasr in a friendly game last month.

The 18-year-old has gone from strength to strength since then and has continued his goalscoring form for the Under-23s in recent weeks.

John-Jules bagged a brace for the Gunners during their 5-0 win over Derby County Under-23s in the Premier League 2 on Monday night and took his tally to three goals in his last three appearances.

In the wake of his impressive display for the Under-23s side, John-Jules has come in for praise from head coach Ljungberg, who admitted he is delighted with the youngster’s progress so far.

The Gunners coach also revealed they are focusing on involving John-Jules more during games by allowing him to drop deep and stressed he is coping with it very well.

“TJ has always been a very good football player and we’re trying to use him a little bit more in play”, Ljungberg told Arsenal Player.

“He comes a little bit deeper and he’s becoming more involved in the game.

"We’re using his strengths and he gets the goals as well, so it’s really good.

“We’ve got to rush him slowly!

"But he’s doing really well and I’m very happy for him.”

John-Jules has scored 13 goals and registered seven assists across various age groups for Arsenal this term.
