AIK sporting director Bjorn Wesstrom has admitted he is waiting to see what Celtic defender Mikael Lustig wants to do before the Swedish giants then weigh up their interest.

Lustig's contract at Celtic runs out in the summer and it is unclear whether he will be extending his stay with the Scottish champions.

He has attracted significant interest from clubs in his homeland of Sweden and AIK are amongst those sides keen to snap up Lustig.

Sporting director Wesstrom makes no bones about the fact he has spoken to Lustig, but insists he is waiting to see what the right-back decides to do.

"If it is close then you discuss details and plans, and you talk to the coach, and we are not there yet.

"What he needs to decide first and foremost is whether he should remain at Celtic or not, and I understand that they have a job to do, Celtic and himself.

"When they have decided on that future, then we will think about how our interest is."

Lustig, who has collected numerous trophies during his time at Celtic, including seven Scottish Premiership titles, has clocked up 38 appearances across all competitions this season.

The Swede is currently helping Celtic chase what would be an historic treble treble.
