Inter had scouts watching West Ham and Newcastle United target Duvan Zapata in action for Atalanta against Empoli on Monday night, but Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku remains their top target.

Zapata’s future at Atalanta is under the scanner ahead of the summer as a number of clubs are keeping tabs on him ahead of his possible departure.

West Ham and Newcastle are interested in taking him to England and he is one of the strikers Inter are looking at landing during the summer transfer window.

According to Italian outlet FcInterNews.it, Inter sent scouts to watch the striker in action for Atalanta against Empoli on Monday night to further ramp up their interest in him.

With Mauro Icardi expected to leave the club, Inter want to bring in at least one striker into their squad during the next transfer window.

Inter have identified Manchester United striker Lukaku as their top target, but are aware signing him from the Red Devils is likely to be tough.

Roma’s striker Edin Dzeko, who has also been linked with West Ham, is also on their radar and the shortlist involves the name of Zapata too.

Atalanta have reportedly slapped a €50m price tag on the striker.
