AC Milan are plotting a potential swoop for Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri ahead of the summer transfer window, as they hope to make the most of their good ties with the English side.

Emerson, who joined Chelsea from Roma during the winter transfer window last season, has struggled to establish himself as a regular under Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian was forced to play second fiddle to Marcos Alonso during the entirety of the first half of the season and was linked with a move away from the club in January.

And although he has featured more prominently since the turn of the year, AC Milan are eyeing a potential swoop for the defender in the summer, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

The 24-year-old, who was also linked with Juventus in the past, has popped up on the radar of AC Milan as they hunt adding a left-back.

AC Milan are believed to be interested in discussing about the possibility of securing a deal for the player when they initiate talks with Chelsea regarding Tiemoue Bakayoko’s permanent switch to Italy at the end of the season.

Despite the interest from AC Milan, it remains to be seen whether Chelsea are prepared to let go of Emerson, especially considering the likelihood of a transfer ban this summer.

Emerson, who made his senior debut for Italy earlier this season, is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2022.
