Manchester United legend Gary Neville has laid into the Red Devils following their 4-0 drubbing at Everton.

It took just 13 minutes for Everton to pull ahead at Goodison Park when Richarlison scored a sublime goal. Lucas Digne did good work, putting in the ball, which was then flicked on by Dominic Calvert-Lewin, being met by Richarlison, who converted with an amazing overhead kick.

Everton were rampant and bossing Manchester United, meaning it was little surprise when they doubled their advantage in the 28th minute.

The goal was again a standout effort as Gylfi Sigurdsson hit a shot from 25 yards out which flew past David de Gea.

Manchester United could not turn their fortunes around at the break and were 3-0 down in the 55th minute, Digne with a sweet strike on the edge of the penalty area and an unsighted De Gea beaten.

After the hour mark, in the 63rd minute, it was 4-0.

Good work from Sigurdsson saw the ball laid on for Theo Walcott, who slotted past De Gea to leave Manchester United reeling.

4-0 was how it ended, giving Manchester United's top four hopes a big blow, and Red Devils legend Neville was hugely unhappy with what he saw.

He said on Sky Sports after the game: "The United players, it's embarrassing watching some of them out there today.

"I'm absolutely furious.

"Full belief in Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] to do what he needs to do, the club will obviously support him, but there's a big problem and I have to say that performance was rancid."

Manchester United now desperately need to return to winning ways when they meet Manchester City in midweek at Old Trafford.
