Brescia president Massimo Cellino has given the green light to negotiations with Roma over the potential transfer of Liverpool target Sandro Tonali.

The teenage midfield sensation is considered one of the top young talents of Italian football and almost all the top clubs in Serie A have been chasing him ahead of the summer.

Inter, Juventus, Roma and Napoli are all admirers and there has also been interest from abroad, with Chelsea and Liverpool believed to be keeping close tabs on him; Cellino opened up about an enquiry from Liverpool in January.

However, Roma seem to be leading the race for Tonali at the moment and have been putting in the legwork to make sure they grab one of Italy’s top youngsters.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Cellino has been receptive to Roma’s overtures and has given the go-ahead to talks with the Giallorossi over Tonali’s move to the Stadio Olimpico.

The Brescia president is hoping to earn a big fee from Tonali’s sale, but he also has eyes on strengthening his own squad as well.

Cellino is expected to demand several young players from Roma and is believed to be eyeing Mirko Antonucci and Alessio Riccardi as part of any deal to sell the 18-year-old midfielder to Roma.

Roma are said to be open such a scenario and are keen to enter advanced negotiations to sign Serie B midfielder.

It remains to be seen how Tonali's other suitors repond to the development.
