Manchester United are preparing a big money offer for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, according to Italian broadcaster Rai Sport.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already signalled that he will carry out major changes to his Manchester United squad in order to take the club back to the top of English and European football.

Manchester United have been keen to sign a big name defender since last summer and it is again on Solskjaer’s agenda ahead of the start of next season.

Koulibaly has long been identified as Manchester United’s top defensive target, but his potential transfer fee was said to be the sticking point.

But it seems Manchester United could be prepared to push the boat out for the Senegalese and it is claimed they are plotting a major assault to sign the Napoli defender in the summer.

Manchester United are mooted to be putting the finishing touches to a €130m offer.

Napoli have been insistent that they do not want to sell Koulibaly.

And it seems Manchester United are prepared to test the resolve of the Serie A giants by offering big money.

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the 27-year-old defender.
