Brescia president Massimo Cellino is keen to keep Liverpool target Sandro Tonali at the club next season and will offer him a new contract.

The 18-year-old midfielder has played a pivotal role in helping Brescia earn promotion to Serie A this season and has been on the watch list of several clubs.

The teenager broke into the Italy squad last year and has been on the radar of almost all the major Serie A club such as Juventus, Inter, AC Milan, Napoli and Roma.

Tonali has also been watched by teams in England, with Liverpool believed to be keeping tabs on the player ahead of the summer transfer window; Cellino has confirmed contact with Liverpool

But with the club achieving promotion, Cellino’s plans for Tonali have changed and, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, he wants the midfielder to continue at the club for one more season.

The Brescia president wants a competitive side in the top tier and believes keeping the young midfielder will be key to his side doing well in Serie A.

Tonali will automatically receive a better wage packet next season due to promotion and Brescia are also prepared to offer him a new deal with improved terms.
