Dutch coach Ron Jans believes that Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur linked Donny van de Beek is similar to Davy Klaassen, but more refined.

Ajax are preparing to see their team picked apart in the summer after a sensational season so far and midfielder Van de Beek is expected to attract bids.

Arsenal have been linked with Van de Beek, while Tottenham reportedly want to land the midfielder if they lose Christian Eriksen this summer; Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich too have been linked with Van de Beek.

Jans, a former Standard Liege and Zwolle coach, believes comparisons can be made with another former Ajax star in the shape of Klaassen.

Klaassen joined Everton from Ajax, but flopped in the Premier League.

But Jans, in words of comfort for fans of clubs keen on Van de Beek, says the Ajax midfielder is a more refined player than Klaassen.

Jans said on Dutch TV show Studio Voetbal: "The comparison with Klaassen is obvious, but it seems that he is slightly more refined than Davy.

"He is certainly well on his way.

"The more difficult it gets, the more chance you have to develop.

"He is now developing into a player who makes the difference."

Van de Beek will be hoping to make the difference for Ajax on Wednesday night when they take a 1-0 lead over Tottenham into the second leg of their Champions League semi-final tie.
