Marcelo Bielsa has offered to listen to what Leeds United have to say if they want him to remain as head coach into next season.

Leeds saw their hopes of promotion to the Premier League end on Wednesday night as Derby County won 4-2 at Elland Road to emerge 4-3 winners from the Championship playoff semi-final tie between the two teams.

It was a bitter blow for Leeds and Bielsa, who had looked good bets for automatic promotion until faltering at the business end of the season.

Thoughts quickly turned to whether Bielsa, who has been claimed to have a break clause in the contract he signed which will kick in if Leeds are not promoted, will stay.

And the Argentine insists if Leeds do want to keep him on, he will consider their proposal.

"If the club offers me the possibility to carry on I will listen to the proposal", Bielsa was quoted as saying by BBC Radio Leeds.

It remains to be seen what backing Leeds can offer Bielsa over the summer to mount a fresh promotion bid.
