The family of Manchester United target Hannibal Mejbri have appealed to the French league authorities to cancel the contract he has with Monaco.

The 16-year-old midfielder is considered to be one of the brightest prospects in the Monaco academy and they have a contract until 2021 with the player.

But the validity of the contract is in question and Mejbri has been keen to leave Monaco after receiving an offer to join Manchester United.

The Premier League giants are hopeful of bagging him and his family have now appealed to the French league authorities.

According to French radio station RMC, the midfielder’s family have appealed to the LFP to terminate the contract with Monaco.

They have put forward the argument that a private contract between the player and Monaco cannot be legally binding.

Monaco remain confident of the validity of the contract and are prepared to fight in order to keep Mejbri at the club.
