Napoli have no agreement in place to sign Celtic defensive target Timothy Castagne, who is also a target for two Premier League clubs.

The 23-year-old defender is likely to leave Atalanta this summer and has been on the radar of several clubs across Europe.

Celtic were keen on getting their hands on him in January, but could not reach an agreement with Atalanta and have continued to keep tabs on him in the second half of the season.

But they could lose out on signing him due to interest from wealthier clubs, with Napoli believed to be doing all the chasing in order to land Castagne this summer.

There have been claims that the Serie A giants have already agreed on a deal with Atalanta for his signature, but according to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws, no such agreement is in place.

Napoli have continued to hold talks with Atalanta for Castagne, but are yet to work out a definitive agreement for the defender’s signature.

The Serie A giants are also facing competition from England for the Belgian as two Premier League clubs are also interested in the full-back.

It remains to be seen if Celtic opt to open their transfer warchest and battle for Castange.
