The eventual transfer fee that Leeds United will earn for Pontus Jansson is linked to Brentford earning promotion to the Premier League, according to Sky Sports News.

Leeds took the surprising decision to sell the 28-year-old centre-back to Brentford this week after it emerged that the club felt there were problems with his attitude.

The final fee was touted at around £5.5m, but it has been claimed that it is linked to add-ons based on his appearances and success at Griffin Park.

Leeds are only expected to earn the full fee if Brentford achieve promotion to the Premier League with Jansson in the squad.

The Bees have paid an initial fee of £4m to take the Sweden international out of Leeds this summer.

Jansson has claimed Leeds’ decision to sell him ahead of the new season is linked to their need to balance their books financially.

It remains to be seen whether Leeds invest the money in a new defender for Marcelo Bielsa’s squad this summer.
