Former West Ham defender Fabio Daprela has told the Hammers fans that they will take to new boy Albian Ajeti because of his attitude on the pitch.

West Ham signed the Swiss international striker from Basel this summer, but he was not part of the Hammers squad who were handed a 5-0 defeat by Manchester City at home on Saturday in the opening game of the season.

The Hammers are hopeful that Ajeti will add goals to their team once he is ready to play and former West Ham star Daprela has provided a glimpse to the striker on what he can expect from the fans.

The defender stressed that West Ham fans always take to players who are prepared to work hard and give it all for their team on the pitch.

And Daprela feels Ajeti is just the kind of player who could become a fan-favourite at West Ham as he never backs down from a fight and knows how to put his physicality to good use.

“They appreciate a sliding tackle more than a goal”, the defender told Swiss daily Blick when asked about his former club and their fans.

“What matters to them is the fighting attitude that the players show on the pitch.”

“The fans will love him because he is a kind of player who will not shy away from a fight for the shirt and will use his physicality, he added.

Ajeti netted three goals this season for Basel before he made his move to the Premier League with West Ham.
