Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama will not be seeking a move to China or Russia and will spend the rest of the season at the north London club, according to The Athletic.

Spurs have been trying to offload the midfielder since the end of last season and a move to Belgian giants Club Brugge failed to materialise last summer.

Wanyama felt that Tottenham priced him out of the move and there was interest in him in the winter window as well, with Celtic keen to take him back to Glasgow in January.

But the Scottish champions baulked at his wage demands and Wanyama has refused to take a pay cut in order to force his way out of Tottenham.

The transfer window is still open in China and Russia but it has been claimed he will not be seeking a move to either country in order to push his way out of the club.

Wanyama is prepared to spend the rest of the season at Tottenham and hope to keep himself fit.

The midfielder has been professional and has been training diligently, but is unlikely to play again for Tottenham.

The north London club have already signed up Gedson Fernandes, who is being touted as a replacement for Wanyama.
