Liverpool managerial target Xabi Alonso will likely decide his future in the next three to four weeks, according to Spanish journalist Guillem Balague.

Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen team are leading the Bundesliga table by ten points and are on course to win a treble this season.

He is the top target for Liverpool, who want him to replace Jurgen Klopp and he is also wanted at German champions Bayern Munich.

The Spaniard has been keen to focus on Leverkusen’s season and take time to make a call over his future.

However, it has been claimed that a decision could be made by the former midfielder in the next three to four weeks.

Alonso is said to be determined to have a decision in place in the next month and sort out his future.

Leverkusen have a few important games lined up in the coming weeks and the plan is to make a decision after the next set of key fixtures.

The German club remain quietly confident that Alonso will decide to stay put at Leverkusen for one more season.
