Derby County’s potential bid to sign midfielder Ebou Adams on a permanent deal is set to fall short of Cardiff City’s asking price, according to journalist Darren Witcoop.

Adams joined Derby from Cardiff in the winter transfer window on loan for the rest of the season.

He has played a key role in getting Derby promoted to the Championship and the club are keen to hold on to him on a permanent deal.

The Rams are already preparing to table a bid for the midfielder in order to keep him at Pride Park.

It has been claimed that Derby are ready to put in a bid worth £250,000 soon to convince Cardiff to sell the midfielder.

However, the offer is set to fall short of what Cardiff want before agreeing to cut ties with Adams in the summer.

Cardiff are prepared to sell him but want double what Derby are willing to offer at the moment.

Negotiations are expected to continue between the two clubs with a view to reaching a compromise in the summer transfer window.
