Former Netherlands star Marciano Vink has claimed that it would be crazy for Liverpool to stop chasing Dutch players just because they are set to appoint Arne Slot as their new manager.

Slot is set to become the new manager to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool at the end of the season.

The Dutch coach is set to take some of his staff to Liverpool and there is already talk of Liverpool being interested in a few players Dutch players.

Teun Koopmeiners has been linked with a move to Liverpool and the Reds are also believed to be interested in Feyenoord’s Lutsharel Geertruida and Quinten Timber.

Liverpool fans are wary of an influx of Dutch players because of Slot, but Vink feels that should not be an issue if Liverpool were already interested in them even before appointing the new manager.

The former Netherlands star insisted that it would be crazy for Liverpool to end their interest in Dutch players just because Slot is set to be appointed.

“Suppose Koopmeiners is now at the top of the list for the 10 position, and [defender David] Hancko is second on the list for a left central defender”, Vink explained on Voetbalpraat.

“Then Slot goes there, and then they have to put a stop to those players? That’s strange, isn’t it?

“I don’t care who they get, but would they have to show on stage that they were already on lists?

“That’s crazy.”

Slot is likely to be consulted by Liverpool with regards to transfers, but he is not expected to have the same power that Klopp did.
