Hull City boss Phil Brown has called for his African players to "come home" from the Nations Cup tournament after the Togo team bus was attacked. Hull have two players in Angola, Daniel Cousin of Gabon and Seyi Olofinjana of Nigeria.

"I have two players on duty and I want them home" Brown told British paper The Sun.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp, who does not have any players due to compete in the Nations Cup, commented, "It’s frightening. It’s worth considering calling the whole thing off."

Whilst Premier League managers no doubt have genuine concerns for the safety of their players, it would be a huge step for CAF to call off their showpiece event. All African football fans will be hoping that security throughout can be guaranteed and they can enjoy what for them is the highlight of their footballing calendar.
