Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has not closed the door on the possibility of taking charge of Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux.

The French outfit sacked Gus Poyet last week after he publicly criticised the club hierarchy regarding their transfer policy and behind the scenes workings.

Bordeaux are on the lookout for a new coach and a number of names are on their shortlist as they look to carry out due diligence before making a fresh appointment.

And former Arsenal and France striker Henry is one of the names on their shortlist of targets along with former Aston Villa boss Remi Garde and ex-Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, Henry is interested in what Bordeaux have to say and is open to taking up the challenge if the right offer is made.

The Frenchman has not signed a new contract to continue on Robert Martinez’s staff for Belgium and recently left his punditry role with Sky Sports to concentrate on his coaching career.

He was linked with the Arsenal job when it became available at the end of last season, but the Gunners opted for Unai Emery. The Frenchman is though still viewed in some quarters as a future Arsenal boss.

Henry is looking forward to receiving the right kind of offer to make his debut in football management and is not averse to the idea of starting his career in France.

He was recently linked with the Aston Villa job before the Championship club decided to retain Steve Bruce.
