Russian Premier League outfit Anzhi Makhachkala have trained their eyes on Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka.

Anzhi have spent big over the last six months, adding Roberto Carlos, Diego Tardelli, Mbark Boussoufa and Balasz Dzsudzsak to their ranks.

The target for the Dagestan-based side is to qualify for the 2012/12 Champions League, a task that does not look beyond them, with the club currently fifth in the Russian Premier League table.

And Anzhi have now turned their attention to Chelsea forward Nicolas Anelka as a possible addition.

The Frenchman faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge with Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba in front of him in the pecking order, with the possibility existing that the Blues will swoop for FC Porto forward Falcao, while the side have also been linked with Neymar.

Anelka therefore could appreciate one final big pay day in Russia.
