Real Madrid icon Guti could land at Shanghai Shenhua to supply Nicolas Anelka with the ammunition to shoot the Blue Devil to the Chinese Super League title.

The creative midfielder, who has been a free agent since terminating his contract with Turkish outfit Besiktas last month, is thought to have an offer on the table from Shanghai Shenhua.

Guti has attracted interest from Spanish duo Espanyol and Malaga, but the chance to head to his homeland’s top flight has not tempted the 35-year-old to U-turn on his statement upon leaving the Black Eagles.

The Spaniard revealed that his time in European football was done and that he would only consider prolonging his illustrious career in Asia.

As well as Shanghai Shenhua, Guti also has offers from clubs in Dubai.

Guti became a hero at Real Madrid, joining the club in 1986 and quickly winning the hearts of Los Blancos’ fans; the midfielder was present during Anelka’s unhappy stint at the Bernabeu in the 1999/2000 campaign.

He scored Real Madrid’s 5000th La Liga goal in 2008 and picked up a suitcase full of medals in the Spanish capital.
