Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has admitted he is a big fan of Lille forward Eden Hazard, but feels opposition fro Manchester City and Manchester United could make signing the Belgian difficult.

Redknapp has consistently been linked with a summer swoop for Hazard and the player is excited to be sold by Rudi Garcia’s reigning Ligue 1 champions in the summer.

Interest from elsewhere is fierce however as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Manchester United have all taken note of the Belgian’s regular brilliance in France.

And Sir Alex Ferguson was in attendance, taking in Hazard’s performance, on Saturday as Lille lost 2-1 away at Lyon.

Nothing would delight Redknapp more than winning the race for Hazard, though he has struck a realistic and downbeat note in relation to that possibility.

"Our chairman is willing to pay for an exceptional talent like Eden Hazard", Redknapp told L’Equipe.

"I’ve watched him several times, recently against Marseille and I also saw him in the French Cup final last year.

"But I know Manchester United and Manchester City are watching him – so it’s difficult to get him.

"But I like him a lot."

Hazard has stated that he is keen to move to England in the summer, handing Spurs a head start over other clubs from mainland Europe.

Seeing off interest from the two Manchester powerhouses may prove a tougher task though.
