Tottenham Hotspur are ready to return to Marseille in the summer with a bumper bid for striker Loic Remy, a fact of which the Ligue 1 club are fully aware, according to the well-connected La Provence.

Spurs’ interest in the France hitman is well known, with the English Premier League side already have tried – and failed – to sign the 25-year-old.

Indeed, in the January transfer window, Harry Redknapp’s men floated a cash plus Roman Pavlyuchenko deal for Remy, but this was quickly shot down by Marseille, who now, as then, continue to remain keen to keep the goal-getter at the Stade Velodrome.

Redknapp has since admitted that he feels Remy’s asking price has risen, while the player himself has insisted any thoughts over his future will have to be put off until after Euro 2012.

This though has not stopped Spurs plotting a new bid.

Boss Redknapp remains a huge fan of Remy, who has been the single bright light in Marseille’s disastrous Ligue 1 campaign.

It has been a season which will see Didier Deschamps’ men miss out next year on the Champions League football they enjoyed in the current campaign, and which could also open the door for Remy’s departure – especially if Spurs can offer Europe’s showpiece competition to the striker.

There is sure to be interest from elsewhere in Remy however, with Manchester City mooted as keeping a watch on the player’s situation on the French south coast.
